Tamil Eelam U14 reach quarterfinals in Denmark football cup

An Under-14 Tamil Eelam football selection reached fourth place in the Vildbjerg Cup in Denmark earlier this month.

The team won their first two games, but lost the quarterfinal 2:1.

Tamil youth commemorated the 31st anniversary of the anti-Tamil pogrom of Black July, raising awareness about the on-going genocide of Tamils in the North-East.

In street performances, flash mobs and drama sketches,
condemning the rape, torture and murder of Tamils by the Sri Lankan state security forces, Tamil youth took to the streets of London by the iconic Piccadilly Circus, as well as in Bern, Switzerland, and in the German cities of Berlin, Frankfurt, Hanover and Landau, on July 23.

Tamil Eelam defeats Darfur United


In the last game for the team at this tournament, Tamil Eelam defeated a weakened Darfur United by ten goals to nil.

The Darfurians, all of whom live in a refugee camp in eastern Chad, started the game with 10 players, and as expected, Tamil Eelam controlled the game from the start.

Sápmi defeats Tamil Eelam in closely contested match



The Tamil Eelam football team managed to net their first goals of the 2014 World Football Cup tournament, but succumbed to a 4-2 defeat to hosts Sápmi.

A minute of silence was held before the match, in remembrance of the death of Pon Sivakumaran 40 years ago, while he was detained by Sri Lankan security sources.

Taking on the host nation in a placement match this morning, the Leopards came in searching for their first goal of the tournament. The highly rated Sápmi team, which has the distinction of having had former Norwegian internationals play on their squad , were clear favourites and were always going to be tough to score against.

Heavy defeat for Tamil Eelam against current world champions Kurdistan


The Tamil Eelam football team suffered a heavy 9-0 defeat today, at the hands of VIVA World Cup holders Kurdistan, at the 2014 World Football Cup in Sweden.

The match was always going to be tough for the Leopards, with the highly rated Kurdistan team coming into the match as clear favourites. In a setback for the Tamils, regular starter Ronsan Valli was not able to play due to illness.

The Tamil Eelam Football Association will play their first match of the 2014 ConIFA World Football Cup today against Arameans Suryoye.

The players trained for the first time since their arrival from their training camp in Norway on Sunday, with all the players fit for the big match.

The Tamil Eelam football team put up an impressive display against Arameans Suryoye, despite losing their opening match at the ConIFA World Cup 2-0.

The match, taking place at the Jamkraft Arena in Ostersund, Sweden, was a lively encounter between the two teams, as they played each other for the first time.

Players and staff attended the opening ceremony in the town of Ostersund, along with the other teams playing in the tournament.
