Buddhist monks demonstrate against UN Human Rights Commissioner

The Ravana Balakaya group led by Buddhist monks and other supporters  staged protests against Navi Pillay’s visit to Sri lanka, in Colombo today.

The general secretary for the Patriotic National Movement, Dr Vasantha Bandara, who also supported the protestors, told a local radio station that they wanted the government to prevent any NGO’s from meeting or holding discussions with Pillay.

The group handed over a signed petition to an UN official, pledging that further organised protests would occur should Pillay ‘fabricate lies’ about the country.
