Tamils protest against Sri Lanka at London2012 on final day

Marking the final day of the London 2012 Olympics, Tamils stood in solidarity with the hunger striker, Gobi Sivanthan, and protested against Sri Lanka's inclusion.

Crowds gathered to the spot in Stratford, by the Olympic stadium where Sivanthan had been on hunger strike since 22nd July, as he broke his protest fast at 4pm of the final day, as planned.

Karumpuli Naal commemorated by Swedish Tamils

The Tamil Youth Organisation – Sweden commemorated the 25th Black Tigers Day with a cricket tournament.

A total of eight teams participated in the tournament, which had group and knock-out stages.

Tamils around the world are commemorating the 25th annual Black Tigers Day.

On the 5th of July 1987, the first Black Tiger Captain Miller attacked a Sri Lankan Army garrison in Nelliyadi in the Jaffna district.

TYO-UK launches organ donor drive

The Tamil Youth Organisation – UK has launched a campaign to encourage British Tamils to register themselves as organ donors.

The campaign 'Anka Thaanam' (Organ Donation) will see members of the TYO raising awareness in Tamil and English at community events and through friends and family to get as many new donors as possible.

'Anka Thaanam' commenced on July 5, marking the 25th Karumpuli Naal, and will end on July 25, the day Tamils remember the pogroms of Black July.
