Sydney

More than 2,000 Tamils gathered in Sydney this morning to commemorate Maaveerar Naal.

Uniformed Sri Lankan army soldiers denied the entry of Tamils into the Kodikaamam Thuyilum Illam, as they attempted to mark Maaveerar Naal this morning.

A massive army camp has been built over the new destroyed LTTE cemetery, with the Sri Lankan military actively monitoring the area. 

A ship from the Indian Navy arrived at the Port of Trincomalee on a training visit. 

Tamil school students at Jaffna Hindu College marked Maaveerar Naal this morning by lighting candles and planting trees in remembrance of those who gave their lives in the Tamil liberation struggle.

Memorial decorations for Maaveerar Naal at the Vavuniya Eechchankulam Thuyilum Illam set up last evening have been completely destroyed by military personnel overnight, with last-minute preparations currently underway to repair the damage.

Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) leader Gajen Ponnambalam tweeted that the military was suspected to be behind the vandalism that “completely destroyed” preparations that had taken place.

Students at the Eastern University commemorated Maaveerar Naal on campus today.

The event was held at the university's Vantharumoolai campus in Batticaloa.

Tamils across Eelam and around the world marked Maaveerar Naal this year, remembering all those that gave their lives to the Tamil liberation struggle.
