Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Sri Lanka from 4 to 6 April 2025, where he will take part in the virtual groundbreaking ceremony for a long-delayed solar power project in Trincomalee.

Modi will become the first foreign head of government to arrive on the island under the new administration of Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Former Sri Lankan president Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for closer cooperation with India’s Adani Group and other foreign investors, stating that such partnerships are essential for Sri Lanka's economic recovery.
