Two Tamil teenagers hospitalised after Sri Lankan police attack

Two Tamil teenagers were hospitalised after they were beaten by allegedly drunk Sri Lankan police officers in Mullaitivu on Friday. 

The two boys aged 15 and 17 sought treatment at Mullaitivu District General hospital after three Sri Lankan police officers questioned and beat both boys while they were walking through Puthukudiyirippu.

Tamils in Mannar held a black flag protest earlier today to mark Sri Lanka's 75th Independence Day, which is deemed a 'black day' for the Tamil nation. 

For decades, Tamils have rejected Sri Lanka's Independence Day as they continue to be oppressed by the state and denied basic rights.

International community urges Sri Lanka to repeal PTA

During the 4th cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in Geneva, Sri Lanka was urged by the several members in the international community to both repeal the draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and decriminalize same-sex relationships. 

The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Norway were among the countries that urged the island to repeal the PTA and decriminalize same-sex relationships.

Prof Ashu Marasinghe resigns as Presidential Advisor - Ceylon Today

After a forced resignation following leaked footage of presidential advisor Ashu Marasinghe sexually abusing a dog, he has been reappointed to his position.

The footage was revealed by former MP Hirunika Premachandra during a media briefing on Friday. During the briefing, she identified the dog’s owner as Aadarsha Karandana who had been in a two-year relationship with Marasinghe after meeting on Facebook.
