The Sri Lankan military continued its involvement in civilian activities, holding a dental clinic in Kilinochchi earlier this year.
The clinic, organised by the 66 Division, was held at the Veravil Hindu College and saw school children amongst those treated by Sri Lankan soldiers.
The event is the latest in a series held by the military, as it continues to intrude on civilian life in the region. Alongside running barber shops, restaurants and hotels, the Sri Lankan military has also exerted its presence in Tamil schools and run several medical clinics.
It comes despite the opposition of Tamil civil society groups and politicians who have repeatedly called for the military to withdraw from civilian activities and for demilitarisation of the region.
