A small commemorative event was held at the anti-government Sri Lankan protest site in Colombo earlier today.

Students from the University of Jaffna pursued and forced two Sri Lankan intelligence officers to identify themselves after they attempted to board a bus to Mullivaikkal this morning.

Marking the 13^th anniversary of the Mullivaikkal genocide, MPs in Switzerland have expressed their solidarity in Tamil demands for justice and accountability.

Claudia Friedl, an MP for St. Gallen from the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland, stated on Twitter:

Marking 13 years since the genocide in Mullivaikkal, British politicians from across the political aisle have called to redouble efforts for justice and accountability.

Leader of the UK Labour party and Opposition leader, Sir Keir Starmer QC, called for Sri Lanka to be referred to the International Criminal Court noting that "the perpetrators of these atrocities still have not been brought to justice".

The Sri Lankan military announced that 396 Officers & 8,110 other ranks in the army have been promoted on today as the Tamil nation mourns the loss of tens of thousands of Tamil lives at the hands of Sri Lanka. 

The promotions have been approved by the head of Sri Lanka's army Shavendra Silva and Sri Lankan president Gotabaya Rajapaksa, both who are credibly accused of war crimes. 

Marking 13 years since the genocide in Mullivaikkal, the UK's Labour leader has called for Sri Lanka to be referred to the International Criminal Court noting that "the perpetrators of these atrocities still have not been brought to justice".

Over a thousand Tamils are gathering in Mullivaikkal today as the Tamil nation remembers the tens of thousands of Tamils killed by Sri Lanka's military in the final days of the armed conflict. 

A flame was lit and flowers were laid at the Mullivaikkal memorial monument located at the site where Tamils were subjected to heavy artillery fire and deliberate starvation 13 years ago. 

May 18 marks Tamil Genocide Day, commemorating the tens of thousands of Tamils who were massacred by the Sri Lankan state 13 years ago.
