Excavations resumed at the Chemmani mass grave site on Thursday, with the remains of three more individuals, including a child, unearthed during the first day of the second phase of investigations.

Among the newly uncovered remains was a small child’s skull, deepening concerns over the scale of atrocities committed in the area. One of the skeletons has already been fully excavated, while the remaining two are set to be recovered in the coming days.

As United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk visited Jaffna this week, Tamil families of the disappeared and protestors at the Chemmani mass grave site handed over a series of urgent demands, underscoring their insistence on international justice.

A torch rally was held at the Ondaachchimadam Bridge in Batticaloa on Monday evening in a show of solidarity with the “Unextinguished Flame” vigil in Chemmani, Jaffna - a protest demanding international justice for the mass graves recently uncovered in the area.

Tamil Eelam Football Association (TEFA) will host the second CONIFA Asia Cup in London from July 1st to 5th. 

Tamil Eelam were crowned champions in the inaugural tournament held in Lisbon, Portugal in 2023. The team now looks to maintain its dominance as it hosts East Turkistan FA and the Tibetan National Sports Association.
