The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) assured the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (LSMC) that the Tamils see Muslims as a distinct nation in habiting Sri Lanka, reports Adaderana.
The statement by Tamil National Alliance MP MA Sumanthiran, said that the Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) had always referred to the Muslims as a nation in all its documents, adding that the “Tamils had endorsed this in every election.”
The comments came in response to concerns by the SLMC that the Muslims may get subsumed under the Tamil identity if the Northern and Eastern Provinces were merged to form a Tamil speaking province.
