The National Freedom Front has accused the Sri Lankan government of fuelling a "separatist agenda", over its agreement to conduct a domestic probe.
Spokesperson Mohamed Muzammil said the six-month extension to the UN probe into Sri Lanka was a farce and the government's promise to conduct a domestic investigation was a betrayal against Sri Lankans, Ceylon Today reported.
"The ban on TamilNet has been removed; Frontline magazine containing an inflammatory interview of the LTTE leader was also released. NGOs are currently in operation in the North. They have not gone through any relevant checks or authorisation," he charged.
Mr Muzammil, whose party is in the UPFA coalition, formerly led by Mahinda Rajapaksa, said the US Embassy was "openly engaging" with politicians from the North.
"The US Embassy is openly engaging in politics with Northern politicians. The country is gradually being opened to separatist conflicts," he said.
