Security tightened for Ranil's Jaffna visit

The Sri Lankan security forces have stepped up their presence in Jaffna, deploying extra officers and troops, ahead of the prime minister's three day visit today.

Special Task Force (STF) officers were seen across the region carrying out checks and search operations.

Ranil, who participated in the opening ceremony of Koppay Divisional Secretariat's new building, is also expected to visit Kilinochchi, Mannar and Mullaitivu.
