Japan gives Rs 28m grant to build Mullaitivu school

The Japanese government is to give a Rs 28 million grant to construct a school building in Mullaitivu, reports the Sunday Times newspaper.

The grant, to be arranged under Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) will provide for a five classroom building for the schools 529 students.

“The Japanese government has been offering wide ranging assistance towards reconciliation and rehabilitation of conflict affected regions in Sri Lanka, which includes creation of mine-free environment, boosting Education sector, provision of Livelihood and Income Generation kit for Agriculture and Fishing,” Japan's Ambassador Hobo was quoted by the paper as saying.
