Deputy High Commissioner - Vinod K. Jacob
The Indian High Commission in Colombo has facilitated a visit of 39 Sri Lankan military officers to New Delhi, in a visit aimed to promote India's "Neighbourhood First" policy.
The delegation of 39 officers will visit all three military headquarters in New Delhi and will familiarise themselves with field formations conducted by the tri-services. The Indian High Commission in Colombo said the visit reflects 'India's unwavering commitment to positively contributing towards overall capacity building including personality development of the Sri Lanka armed forces'. All branches of the Sri Lankan military stand credibly accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the armed conflict, for which judicial procedures within the Island have failed to investigate and uphold any past convictions.
Deputy High Commissioner Vinod K. Jacob and Assistant Defence Adviser Lt Col Puneet Sushil visited the officers on the 4th of September to personally see them off for the visit to India. During the interaction, the Deputy High Commissioner stressed that India and Sri Lankan have centuries-old umbilical linkage underpinned by Buddhism and people to people ties.
