The body of a 3 year old girl was found on Sunday in the Ellakkaadu Sakthipuram region of Uruththirapuram village in Kilinochchi district.
It is believed to be that of a 3 year old girl named Yatsika, who was reported missing last month after going bathing with her mother.
The body was found in a paddy field around 5km from the site where she was reported missing. The clothes she was wearing at the time were also found nearby, and identified by the Yatsika's parents as those she was wearing the day she went missing.
Kilinochchi police have said however, that they are presently unable to confirm whether this body is that of the missing three year old. They are reported to be carrying out the necessary investigations.
