A group seven of Indian fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lankan navy this week, for allegedly engaging in “in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters”.
A Sri Lankan Fast Attack Craft and a Coast Guard vessel arrested the fishermen, some 10.5 nautical miles northwest of KKS lighthouse.
The fishermen were then taken to the Sri Lankan navy base before being handed over to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
The arrest is the latest in a series of incidents where the Sri Lankan forces have repeatedly arrested Indian fishermen in recent years.
