Sri Lankan military donates computers to Jaffna school

The Sri Lankan army donated a batch of computers to a school in Jaffna earlier this month, in a town that has become the site of a controversial Sinhala settlement.

Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding the 52 Division, headed a military ceremony at the Navathkuli Maha Vidyalaya where IT equipment was donated to the school.

It comes after the Sri Lankan military announced that it had completed the construction of a new water facility at a school in Jaffna earlier this month.

Navatkuli, located in the Jaffna district, is the site of a government sponsored Sinhalese settlement. Earlier this year, a Sri Lankan army commander laid the foundation stone for a controversial new Buddhist stupa in a religious ceremony held in the town.
