The commander of Sri Lanka's 523 Division Brigadier Dissanayake was the chief guest at the ceremony, which was attended by several Buddhist monks.

Costing approximately 1 crore rupees, the stupa has been constructed in the town of Navatkuli in the Jaffna peninsula, an area that has seen Sri Lanka's national housing development settle Sinhala villagers there since 2010.
