Participant of Jaffna SLFP Independence Day rally arrested for suspected involvement in sword attacks

Jaffna police have arrested a participant of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) 'Independence Day' rally over suspected involvement in sword attacking incidents.

The police had reportedly received intelligence that two people allegedly involved in sword attacking incidents in the city were participating in the SLFP march.

When the police arrived at the spot to apprehend the suspected individuals, one of them had reportedly fled the scene while the other was arrested.

The arrested individual has been detained at Jaffna police station where the police are currently pursuing further investigation.

The SLFP conducted a rally through Jaffna on Sri Lanka's 73rd Independence Day propogating the slogan 'One Country, One Nation' while Tamils held protests and hunger strikes across the North-East, marking it as a 'black day'.
