Tamils in London demonstrated through the city to mark 17 years since the genocide at Mullivaikkal. 

The rally began at Parliament Square, where Tamils staged weeks-long protests in 2009, urging the international community to intervene and halt Sri Lanka’s military offensive.

A senior leader of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the massacre of Tamils in Mullivaikkal was the "largest genocide carried out in a single day in world history" and referred to May 18 as a “Black Day”, in a statement marking Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day.

University of Jaffna students marked the 17th anniversary of the Tamil genocide on campus today. 

The event began with a moment of silence for the Tamil people who were killed in Sri Lanka's genocidal offensive during the final phase of the armed conflict.
