Sri Lankan Foreign Minister claims UN resolution is ‘unhelpful’ and creates ‘disharmony’

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris claimed that UN resolution 46/1 creates "disharmony" and is "unhelpful" to Sri Lanka in his address to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) this morning.

Handball tournament held in Denmark in memory of Anton Balasingham

A handball tournament was held in Vejle, Denmark over the weekend in memory of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)'s chief negotiator and political strategist, Anton Balasingham.

Black Tigers suicide boat allegedly discovered in Mullaitivu 

A boat allegedly kept by the Black Tigers wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) meant for suicide attacks has been found in the Chundikkulum area of Mullaitivu. 

The vessel, apparently hidden under water, was identified by Sri Lankan military intelligence from an investigation they carried out earlier today based on the tip-offs they received. 

The military subjected the boat to an inspection and claimed to have found explosives used during suicide attacks. 

Britain presses Sri Lanka on ‘truth, justice and reconciliation’

As the 49th session of the UN Human Rights Council begins, the British Minister for South Asia, Lord Tariq Ahmad, has met with Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister G L Peiris and pressed him on progress over “truth, justice and reconciliation mechanisms”.
