US drone strikes could be war crimes - Amnesty international

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have slammed the use of drones by the CIA to strike at targets.

AI said the drone attacks are responsible for unlawful killings, which could amount to a war crime, and that Obama’s pledge to increase transparency has not been fulfilled.

"This secrecy has enabled the USA to act with impunity and block victims from receiving justice or compensation. As far as Amnesty is aware, no US official has ever been held to account for unlawful killings by drones in Pakistan," a report by Amnesty said.

HRW in a separate report said that 6 drone attacks in Yemen have killed 82 people, including at least 57 civilians.
