His charismatic addresses in venues around the world drew tens of thousands, as he provided political analysis with sharp wit. Leading LTTE delegations through numerous negotiations, Bala Anna eloquently and forcefully articulated the rights of the nation. His intellectual prowess and political acumen earned him respect from all sides of the negotiating table.

Following 2,120 days of protest, Tamil Families of the Disappeared staged a protest a vigil outside government offices in Vavuniya, decrying the action of Tamil politicians who met with government officials.

During the protest, demonstrators pelted photos of Tamil politicians with tomatoes in an expression of outrage. Protesters maintained that Tamil MPs should not speak with the Sri Lankan government alone.

50 families in Mannar have been affected by Cyclone Mandous which damaged houses and businesses in the district.
