The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is to launch its own online channel named 'TGTE TV'.
In a statement announcing the launch event, TGTE said the free channel would be for news and entertainment.
"This free TV Channel will air news, discussions, debates and transmit events live and will not show any entertainment programmes like serials, cinema songs, movies," TGTE said.
Sri Lanka is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist. Tamil journalists are particularly at threat, with at least 41 media workers known to have been killed by the Sri Lankan state or its paramilitaries during and after the armed conflict.
