<p>The paramilitary leader and newly appointed Resettlement Minister, Douglas Devananda today announced in Jaffna that 'non-rehabilitated' former LTTE cadre should register with his ministry. </p>
<p>Douglas pledged cash compensation and financial assistance from the state. </p>
<p>Locals and former LTTE cadres expressed concern however over the call from Douglas, the EPDP leader, notorious for extra-judicial killings and abductions of LTTE cadres during the armed conflict. </p>
<p>"They are trying to finish off what they started in 2009," one former cadre said, speaking anonymously. "To finish us [Tamil liberation fighters] off completely". </p>
