Indian navy ships arrive in Trincomalee on Sri Lankan training visit


Ships from the first training squadron of the Indian navy arrived at the Trincomalee port on Friday, where they were welcomed by Sri Lankan navy officers and officials from the High Commission of India.

Indian Naval Ships, "Tir", "Kesari", "Sudarshani" and the Indian Coast Guard Ship "Varuna" docked at the port and commanding officers called on the Sri Lankan Commander of the Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohana Perera.

The Indian officers are scheduled to stay in Sri Lanka until the 30th of March and will train a select group of officers and sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy on board the ships. The Indian ships’ crews will also participate in training programs organised by the Sri Lanka Navy.
