UK police drop investigations into 4 Tamils arrested at Luton Airport

Police have dropped their investigation into 4 Tamils who were arrested at Luton airport under suspicion that they belonged to a proscribed organisation which would violate section 11 of the Terrorism act 2000.

The individuals arrested include a 35, 39 and 41-year-old male. A 35-year-old woman was with them but was granted bail. They have since been released.

MTC & Co Solicitors, who are representing these individuals, have responded to the Home Office insisting on the need for Tamil interpreters.

In September, two Tamil activists were also arrested by British counter-terrorism police at Heathrow airport just before their flights to Geneva where they would participate in a protest outside the UN Human Rights Council, calling for Sri Lanka to be referred to the International Criminal Court.
