Sri Lanka hands out interest free loans to troops

The Sri Lankan Navy issued interest free loans to 1,000 sailors on Friday, as part of an ongoing welfare initiative.

Loans worth Rs. 500,000 were granted to each naval personnel as part of the 13th phase of a Sri Lanka Navy welfare initiative, reports the official navy website.

“Following a visionary concept of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne this welfare programme has been initiated and a total of 1,000 senior sailors… were benefitted as of now” it added.
