Sirisena presents 100 new houses to Sri Lankan soldiers

The Sri Lankan president, Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday presented 100 new houses to soldiers as part of the 'Api Wenuwen Api' project of new homes for 'war heroes' which was launched in 2009.

The presentation was made during a ceremony in Colombo at the Defence Service College auditorium on Thursday for armed forces personnel in the Kandy district.

Houses were presented to 65 army personnel, along side 21 navy officers and 14 air force personnel.

"A new process would be implemented hereafter to boost-up the welfare measures of war heroes and their families of Tri-Services, Police and Civil Defence Force," the president said, reported the Ministry of Defence's website.
