President Sirisena visits Jaffna, promises to protect his troops

Sri Lankan president, Maithripala Sirisena, told military force personnel in Jaffna that he would never bring charges against them.

Visiting the Jaffna Security Force Headquarters on Saturday, the president said in Palali “I am not ready to govern the country on opinions of some NGOs and will never bring charge sheets against security forces.”

As well as meeting current triforce members, the president met ex-servicemen currently living in Jaffna and gifted them each with Rs 10,000 in cash and a gas cooker.
