'National integration and reconciliation' centre opened in Kilinochchi

A Northern Provincial Centre of the Ministry of National Integration, Reconciliation and Official Languages was opened off the A9 road in Kilinochchi today.

The opening ceremony, which took place with much fanfare, was attended by Minister Mano Ganeshan as well as a number of TNA MPs, including S Sritharan, Mavai Senathirajah and Selvam Adaikkalanathan.

The event was criticised by locals however, who questioned how this office could aid reconciliation and national integration.

"The military is still everywhere. They watch us, they are in our children's schools. What reconciliation is this?" one mother said.
