Sri Lankan Army and Archaeology Dept. destroying ancient Tamil remains in Kilinochchi

Residents of a Kilinochchi village have said that the Sri Lankan Army and Archaeology Department are destroying signs of ancient Tamil civilisation in the area.

For the past few weeks soldiers, government officials and Buddhist monks have been visiting Oottrupulam in the Karaichchi division which has rock structures and other ancient remains.

Oottrupulam residents have expressed concerns that the ancient sites would be destroyed or appropriated for Sinhalisation projects, especially as locals have not been allowed to access the sites.
