Jaffna university students mark first day of Maaveerar remembrance week

Students at the University of Jaffna paid tribute to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) cadres who gave their lives to the Tamil struggle for liberation today to mark the first day of Maaveerar remembrance week. 

Commemorations will take place across the Tamil homeland this week in the lead up to Maaveerar Naal - Great Heroes' Day - which falls on November 27, in memory of the first death of a LTTE cadre, Lt Col. Shankar who died in combat on November 27, 1982.
