Former NPC member commemorates Mullivaikkal despite disruption by Sri Lankan police

Former Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member, M K Sivajilingam paid tribute to the victims of the Mullivaikkal massacre at Semmai, as Sri Lankan police attempted to distrupt the memorial. The police cited that a court order prevented them from holding the memorial.

Sivajilingam and his team, however, proceeded by lighting a lamp to honour those who lost their lives.

This disruption forms part of Sri Lanka's efforts to stop commemorations across the homeland.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
