Five arrested in Vavuniya by STF officers for alleged sword possession

Five persons have been arrested and taken into custody for allegedly sword possession in Vavuniya by Special Task Force officers.

Two people were arrested yesterday at around 4pm, for allegedly possessing a sword, during a STF patrolling operation in Vavuniya.

The STF officers claimed they were inspecting the Veppankulam area in Vavuniya when they saw the two individuals, aged 24 and 26 respectively, carrying a sword. The STF officers handed the two individuals to the Vavuniya police authorities for investigations.

Following an interrogation of the two suspects, they were led to three more suspects who were allegedly carrying a sword and have been arrested today. The STF claims that a sword had been seized from them and that they were handed over to the Vavuniya police authorities.

The police authorities stated that after further investigations have been conducted, they will be presented in court.
