Dartford Tamil Knowledge Centre (DTKC) hosted its first ever sports day on the 30th of June 2012 at Dartford Holy Trinity Church Primary School. The event was attened by chief guests Kim Anderson, a former Royal Navy Reserve Officer and currently a police officer, and Lorraine Sylvester, the police liaison officer for Dartford and Bluewater. The day started with the lighting of the ceremonial light and a march past by the students of the Tamil school. The Tamil Youth Organisation – Sweden commemorated the 25th Black Tigers Day with a cricket tournament. A total of eight teams participated in the tournament, which had group and knock-out stages. The final, played over 12 overs, proved to be a thriller, with Sweden Tamil United defeating Helsingborg Boys and lifting the trophy. Throughout the event, visitors paid respect to the Black Tigers by laying flowers at a memorial at the event.
Tamils around the world are commemorating the 25th annual Black Tigers Day. On the 5th of July 1987, the first Black Tiger Captain Miller attacked a Sri Lankan Army garrison in Nelliyadi in the Jaffna district. Every year since, Tamils around the world commemorate Karumpuli Naal on this day. Karumpuli Naal was observed widely in the North-East of the island until 2009. A statue of Captain Miller was destroyed by armed men, suspected to be Sri Lankan soldiers, in 2006. The Tamil Youth Organisation – UK has launched a campaign to encourage British Tamils to register themselves as organ donors. The campaign 'Anka Thaanam' (Organ Donation) will see members of the TYO raising awareness in Tamil and English at community events and through friends and family to get as many new donors as possible. At a multicultural event in the western town of Siegen, German Tamils raised awareness of the genocide by handing out leaflets and documents with information about the sufferings of Tamils in the North-East of Sri Lanka. The information was well received by Germans in the town, several of them raising concerns about the safety of Mannar Bishop Joseph Rayappu. One visitor remarked that the genocide of Tamils was ‘one of the worst humanitarian crises ever’. Other visitors congratulated German Tamils on their effort and requested Tamils to continue working till justice is gained.

Tamil youth in Germany came together to hold a cultural event on Saturday, depicting the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Held in Rheinland Pfalz, over 500 local German residents, including politicians, attended. Many expressed horror at the plight of Tamil, and said they were astounded to know crimes of such severity continued to occur in this century.
