Tamils across Italy marked the 17th anniversary of the genocide at Mullivaikkal.

Palermo

Candles were lit to remember the tens and thousands of Tamils that were trapped and killed in the 'No Fire Zones'.  Representatives from Palermo Municipal Council joined the commemorations.

In 2021, Palermo City council signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Italian- Tamil community recognising the "Genocide of Eelam Tamils perpetrated by the Sri Lankan state."
