Cyclone Ditwah: Maavilaru reservoir breached as flood waters rise

The Maavilaru reservoir in Trincomalee has been breached in multiple locations, as flood waters continue to rise following Cyclone Ditwah. 

Floodwaters are surging past the Kilivetti bridge toward Muttur. Residents in Muttur and the surrounding areas have been urged to move to safe locations immediately.

Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has confirmed the death toll across the island has risen to 212, with 218 still missing and close to a million people impacted.
