As the CONIFA Asia Cup London concluded last week with Tamil Eelam retaining the title, each individual brought something unique, and together they created moments of pride for Eelam Tamils across the world.
The Players
Ahrvinthan R (1)
Cat-like reflexes, composed distribution, and a commanding presence, Ahrvinthan was a wall in goal. He kept clean sheets throughout the tournament, whether it was fingertip stops, one-on-one denials, or calmly playing out from the back under pressure. Ahrvinthan inspired total confidence.
Yaathav L (2)
Scored a crucial opener in the first game against East Turkistan and provided an equally impressive assist, taking the match into his own hands. Despite being the youngest on the pitch, Yaathav showed maturity beyond his years. One to watch for the future.
Saraniyan S (4)
“SARZOUUUUUU,” echoed from the stands every time he launched into a perfectly timed challenge. Relentless down the left flank, Sarzou was a force of nature: bombing forward with blistering pace, delivering dangerous balls into the box and tracking back with discipline and tenacity to snuff out any threat. He brought energy, heart, and fearless intent in equal measure. A rising star, it’s easy to see why he’s Switzerland’s pride and joy.
Niruban S (5)
The other half of Tamil Eelam’s rock-solid defence. Niruban was dominant in the air, winning over 90% of his aerial duels with flawless timing and positioning. His ability to read the ball’s flight and connect cleanly under pressure made him almost untouchable. A warrior at heart, leading by example, putting his body on the line, and never backing down from a challenge.
Ninon P (6)
Ninon remained composed under pressure and effective in transitions, providing a consistent link between defence and attack. He maintained control in midfield, contributing with sound positioning and accurate passing. His understanding of the game and tactical awareness allowed him to support both defensive and attacking phases effectively
Prashanth R (7)
“El Capitán.” The most senior figure in the Tamil Eelam squad, Prash led from the front with quiet authority and undeniable class. Admired by those he led and respected by those he faced; he embodied the true essence of leadership. He opened the scoring in the team’s first game and delivered a masterclass in the final - combining technical finesse, tactical intelligence, and relentless pressing. A worthy recipient of the tournament’s Best Player award.
Senthuran U (8)
When it mattered most, he delivered. Senthuran opened the scoring in the final with two stunning goals. All tournament long, he was the engine of the team, pressing, creating, and tackling. A complete box-to-box midfielder.
Sharushan P (9)
A clinical forward with razor-sharp instincts. With intelligent movement and a striker’s intuition, he finished as the tournament’s top scorer with three goals - including the fourth in Tamil Eelam’s dominant 5-0 win over East Turkistan in the final.
Thomas A (10)
“The Snow Tiger” (Pani Puli). A long-time servant of the team, Thomas showed exactly why he's trusted by his coach and admired by his teammates. He led the press alongside Prashanth, dictated tempo, and delivered 2 assists and a goal in the final - 3 goal involvements in total. A stellar performance in every sense.
Adshayan S (11)
Fresh off his domestic Eelam Cup triumph with UKTSU. Adshayan earned his call-up to the Tamil Eelam squad - and he wasted no time making an impact. Scoring on his debut, he lit up the left wing with blistering pace and sharp changes of direction, constantly tormenting defenders.
Ahghas N (12)
A rock at right back. Ahghas tracked runners with tenacity, shut down left wingers, and surged forward when needed. Calm under pressure and ruthless in the tackle, he made his flank a no-go zone for opponents. Game after game, Ahghas delivered with consistency, grit, and unmatched work rate.
Jeyapriyan B (14)
He made his debut against East Turkistan, playing with confidence, pace, and intent. As one of the youngest, he was fearless in possession and direct in his approach. An exciting glimpse of what's to come.
Keerthihan K (15)
One half of a fearless centre-back duo, Keerthihan was a pillar at the back, commanding in the air, composed on the ball, and tactically astute. His left foot was a weapon in itself, launching pinpoint long balls that split lines and sparked attacks. Calm, calculated, and consistently reliable.
Sanujan V (16)
A natural winger who wreaked havoc down the left flank with pace and precision. Introduced against a tough, physical East Turkistan side, Sanujan rose to the challenge. He created chances with confidence, tracking back with discipline, and displaying flair and character well beyond his years.
Mahy N (17)
A member of the original Tamil Eelam squad from 2012, Mahy returned to the team as a seasoned veteran, offering invaluable leadership and composure. His contribution during the qualifiers was immense - playing multiple roles, from central defensive midfield to right back. Mahy stepped up and delivered, putting his heart and soul into every minute on the pitch.
Sujeen S (19)
Silky feet and confident under pressure. At one point, he dribbled past three players in a flash. A natural talent and certainly one to watch.
Yadush T (21)
A young left-back who delivered on his debut, highlighted by a well-taken assist. Disciplined in defence and composed on the ball, he showed promising qualities in both phases of play. His presence on and off the pitch reflects maturity beyond his years.
Naveen R (22)
“Spain have Yamine. Tamil Eelam have Naveen.” From the very first match, Naveen lit up the pitch with flair, pace, and unpredictability. Opponents built entire tactics just to contain him (doubling and tripling up) but he’d still glide past. Even in the final, carrying an injury, he remained a constant threat.
Yuvva R (23)
Just 19 and already leaving his mark. Yuvva’s pace, pressing, and decision-making were standout. He played with heart and composure - expect to see his name more often.
Braveenth K (26)
Made a brilliant low save in the East Turkistan match. Showed sharp reflexes, clean handling, and precise distribution under pressure. A solid keeper who delivered when called upon.
Saran S (27)
Saran brought energy and directness. His 1v1 duels often ended in his favour, adding a new dimension to Tamil Eelam’s attack.
Aathithan E (28)
Instrumental in the final, Aathithan shifted the tempo with his dynamic play, capping off Tamil Eelam’s dominant win with a decisive goal. His relentless pressing and physical presence made him a key figure in managing and closing out games
The Staff
Ragesh Nambiar (Head Coach)
Ragesh was one of the founders who built this organisation with others from the ground up. Through doubts, losses, and years of dedication, he shaped a side that played with heart and identity. His philosophy - freedom in attack, discipline in defence - was clear on the pitch. This triumph is a testament to his vision.
Mathan U (Team Manager)
A former player turned tactician, Mathan brought structure, clarity, and drive to the Tamil Eelam setup. Serving as assistant coach, he stepped up with crucial tactical adjustments when the moment demanded it. His composed leadership and sharp footballing mind complemented Ragesh seamlessly. Together, they’re laying the foundation for something truly special.
Saratha P (Physio)
Saratha was ever-present, running onto the pitch, taping ankles, soothing injuries, and ensuring players stayed fit throughout the tournament. Her contribution behind the scenes was vital.
