The Tamil Eelam Women's National Team has completed their North American tour with two wins over Hmong FF.
The team embarked on their first regional tour, which featured open trials, training sessions, and two international friendlies against Hmong FF. They continue to go from strength to strength, building on the momentum gained from reaching the final of the CONIFA Women’s World Cup held in Norway last year.
The North American tour, hosted in partnership with the Canadian Tamil Sports Association (CTSA), marks a significant step forward in elevating Tamil women in sport on the global stage. The Tamil Eelam Football Association (TEFA) aims to expand and develop Tamil talent in the region, and the successful completion of this tour stands as a testament to the players' and management's dedication.
As the Canadian Tamil community gathered to watch the two international friendlies held on June 28th and June 29th, a festive atmosphere was apparent. Vijay Thanigasalam MPP for Scarborough Rouge Park stated that the international match was not just a football game but a "celebration of culture, identity and resilience".
