Sri Lankan army ‘disinfects’ shops in Mullaitivu

The Sri Lankan army continued to lead the state’s response to the coronavirus outbreak on the island, with troops sent to shops and public places in Mullaitivu this week to carry out ‘disinfection’ regimes.

Soldiers dressed in protective gear were photographed spraying chemicals in “bus stands, banks, market areas, main shops, health places, etc.” according to an official military website.

It is unclear whether the military had sought permission from shop owners to carry out the process.
