The Sri Lankan military arrested a man in Vavuniya earlier this week, after troops conducted search operations across several villages and homes, including of a Hindu temple.
Homes in Kovilkulam and Kovilputhukulam were searched by heavily armed Sri Lankan soldiers, as operations continue across the North-East. Vehicles were also stopped and searched throughout the week.
A 40-year-old father of three, who had reportedly returned from working in the Middle East, was arrested by the military. They claim he had a camouflaged shirt in his possession.
The arrest comes amidst a series of raids conducted in the wake of the Easter Sunday attacks, which killed over 250 people. Sri Lanka announced emergency law soon after the attacks, granting the security forces wide ranging powers of detention.
