Sri Lankan army organises workshop on ‘International Humanitarian Law’

Sri Lankan soldiers in Mullaitivu organised a workshop on International Humanitarian Law at their military headquarters this week.

“Organized on the instructions of Major General Dampath Fernando, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, the workshop was attended by 25 Senior Officers of Brigades and Units,” reported an official army website.

Chandana Jayawardena of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delivered a talk at the event, which was co-ordinated by the Directorate of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law of the Army.

Last year the military organised a similar lecture in the same district.
