Sri Lankan soldiers organise Buddhist sermon in Jaffna

Thousands of Sri Lankan soldiers organised a “special Buddhist sermon” at the Security Forces Headquarters in Jaffna last month, according to an official military website.

Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, the Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna, reportedly invited a Buddhist monk Rajagiriye Ariyagnana to Jaffna and deliver a sermon for soldiers. The military website describes the monk as a “rare Sanga gem in Sri Lanka”.

More than 2,500 soldiers, including division commanders and senior military officials attended the event in Jaffna.
