The Sri Lankan president, Maithripala Sirisena and prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe invited the chief minister of the Northern Provincial Council, C V Wigneswaran for discussions on land issues in the North-East.
The meeting is to be held in Colombo on April 18, Mr Wigneswaran told journalists.
The NPC has criticised the Sri Lankan military's continued appropriation of civilian land in the North-East and the government's resettlement of Sinhala families into the region, as well as the government's controversial housing project.
Mr Wigneswaran asked NPC councillors to inform him of any ongoing incidents in order to raise these with Mr Sirisena and Mr Wickremesinghe during the meeting later this month.
