The commander of Sri Lanka’s Army Lieutenant General Crishante De Silva said the army’s primary commitment was to ensure national security in a New Years Message.
Speaking to the army on New Year’s day Mr De Silva said,
“Everyone in the Army should remember that our prim responsibility is to safeguard the territorial integrity and the unitary status of the country while extending our best cooperation towards the nation-building, spearheaded by President as our Commander-in-Chief. I expect everyone to work towards minimizing the number of lapses on the part of our discipline in the New Year. Ours is an organisation based on discipline, nothing but the discipline.”
Paying tribute to those working for the army, De Silva called on soldiers to fulfil their duties in the best interest of the “country at large.”
