Hundreds of Tamil Catholics gathered at St. Mary's Cathedral in Jaffna for a Christmas Eve midnight Mass today.
The service was led by the current Roman Catholic Bishop of Jaffna Justin Gnanapragasam, who was appointed to the position by Pope Francis earlier this year.
Christmas festivities are taking place in the North-East despite heavy floods disrupting the lives of thousands across the region and leaving many at risk of starvation.
