Sri Lanka will host roadshows abroad to attract investment into the country announced Sri Lanka’s finance minister Ravi Karunanayake on Thursday.
Every month the roadshow will focus on a different country with the aim of showing foreign investors that Sri Lankan’s economy was progress, added the Finance minister.
The first roadshow of the year will be in Switzerland alongside the Economic Forum reports Colombo Page.
Sri Lanka will also host a second road show to coincide with President Maithripala Sirisena’s visit to Germany in February, a third to coincide with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to China in March and a fourth to be held in Singapore during the month of April.
Sri Lanka’s finance minister said the country would be presented as a ‘safe haven’ for investors, adding,
“First thing we have to say is Sri Lanka is on the move, there was a report that Forbes have said Sri Lanka is a good destination, 91st place ahead of China and India. So obviously investors won’t come for nothing. They know Sri Lanka is on the move.”
