Sri Lankan army organises Buddhist festival in Jaffna

The Sri Lankan military organised the hosting of  Buddhist religious festival in Jaffna this week, with Sinhalese villagers form the south of the island attending proceedings.

Sri Lanka's Civil Military Co-ordination Jaffna website reported that "hundreds of Buddhists" attended the ceremony in Navatkuli, which was organised by "Buddhist villagers... with assistance of the Army".



The General Officer Commanding 52 Division Major General Priyantha Jayasundara and battalions serving under 523 Brigade oversaw the event.

The following day alms were offered to 36 monks, reports the website.
