Sri Lanka army commander makes trip to Mullaitivu base

Sri Lanka's army commander, Lieutenant General Crishanthe de Silva visited Mullaitivu on Friday to address troops deployed in the region.

The visit comes just before the release of the OHCHR inquiry into Sri Lanka at the end of this month.

Addressing troops at the Mullaitivu army base, Lieutenant General de Silva "pointed out the need to maintain excellent relations with civilians and requested to launch projects that could be implemented to promote social harmony, understanding and reconciliation in the region", the Ministry of Defence's website reported.
